Editorial Policy

At Phoenix APOE4, we are committed to providing accurate, evidence-based health information for APOE4 carriers. This policy outlines the standards we follow to ensure the quality and reliability of every article we publish.

Medical Review Process

All health content published on Phoenix APOE4 undergoes medical review by Dr. Kevin Tran, PharmD, a Doctor of Pharmacy and APOE4/4 carrier. Dr. Tran is a former Biogen Alzheimer's strategy consultant with geriatric clinical experience and brings both professional expertise and lived experience as a homozygous APOE4 carrier.

Our review process ensures that claims are supported by peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, or established medical consensus. Content that presents emerging or preliminary research is clearly labeled as such.

Citation Standards

We follow a strict citation hierarchy to maintain the highest standards of evidence-based content:

  1. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses from PubMed and Cochrane Library
  2. Randomized controlled trials published in peer-reviewed journals
  3. Prospective cohort studies with adequate sample sizes and follow-up periods
  4. Clinical guidelines from recognized medical organizations (AHA, AAN, NIA)
  5. Expert consensus statements when higher-level evidence is not yet available

Primary sources are linked directly where possible. When referencing PubMed-indexed studies, we include DOI links for verification.

Content Update Cadence

Health research evolves rapidly, particularly in the fields of Alzheimer's prevention and APOE4-specific interventions. To maintain accuracy:

  • High-impact protocols (supplement stacks, blood biomarker guides) are reviewed every 30 days
  • Educational content (genetics explainers, mechanism overviews) is reviewed every 60 days
  • Reference material (lifestyle recommendations, general wellness) is reviewed every 90 days

Each article displays its original publication date and the most recent update date. When significant new evidence emerges, we update affected articles promptly regardless of the scheduled review cycle.

Author Credentials

All authors contributing health content to Phoenix APOE4 have relevant professional qualifications or demonstrated expertise in their subject area. Author credentials are displayed on each article and on individual author profile pages. We believe transparency about who writes our content is essential for readers to assess the reliability of the information presented.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Phoenix APOE4 is operated by The Phoenix Community, a health platform serving APOE4 carriers. We disclose the following potential conflicts of interest:

  • Articles may reference The Phoenix Community's premium subscription services where relevant
  • Supplement and product recommendations are based on evidence, not commercial partnerships
  • Any sponsored content or affiliate relationships are clearly disclosed within the article

Corrections Policy

When factual errors are identified in published content, we issue corrections promptly. Minor clarifications are made inline with an updated date. Significant corrections include an editor's note explaining what was changed and why. Retracted or substantially revised articles are clearly marked to prevent the spread of outdated information.
