The APOE4 result that changed my life

The fear was real. So was the decision to act.

The fear was real. So was the decision to act.

At the end of 2024, I was lying in bed staring at a genetic report.

Two copies of APOE4.

I panicked. Then I went down the rabbit hole. For two months I read everything I could find: PubMed, Reddit, Facebook groups, longevity podcasts and more browser tabs than I could count. (And I bought every supplement on Amazon.)

Back then, I read that East Asians with two copies had 33 times the risk of getting Alzheimer's.

It was extremely bad.

Then the symptoms started.

I left my underwear in the wine chiller.

I forgot my Windows password.

I missed steps on the staircase.

Obviously, it was the anxiety and the stress of that result. It was psychological. And even knowing that, it kept happening.

I saw neurologists in France and in Singapore. Both told me the same thing: "Come back when you have Alzheimer's symptoms."

That was unacceptable to me.

My therapist told me to take it easy. Semi-retire in Bali, or at least go there, enjoy life a little more and take a breather.

But that felt like trying to enjoy a train ride when you can see the tracks are broken up ahead.

So I took it under my control instead.

I had spent years working in healthcare. Yet when it became personal, I still needed an answer: what should I do next, and how would I know whether it helped?

So I built the system I wished existed.

Everywhere I looked, I got the same two answers: wait for symptoms, or buy something that promises to fix it. I wanted a third option: act now, and learn from my own results.

I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all answer. How could there be? We all have different genes, and we all respond differently to interventions. I also deeply believe our own preferences matter if we want to stick to a protocol. (After all, for some people full keto is easier, for others it's fasting, or running a marathon.)

Phoenix is how I find my own personalized solution: a structured community where APOE4 carriers record interventions, track real outcomes and learn together. It's my way of handling APOE4, and everything I need as a carrier.

I won't pretend building Phoenix is the relaxing option. Building a fast-growing startup is burning the candle at both ends. The stress and the short nights push my own risk up. It takes every hour I'm awake. And I enjoy life less than I would chilling on a beach in Bali (even though, honestly, I wake up every morning to work on Phoenix with an enthusiasm I never felt in corporate).

Is it worth it? Every single hour.

Because the tracks are still broken, and I'm not going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I'm fixing them. And I'd love to fix them with you.

Over my first 7 months, these are my results:

If you'd rather hear it in my own voice, here is the video I made for anyone who just got their result:
