A shingles vaccination program in Wales became a natural experiment in dementia risk. I walk through the evidence, the independent replication in Australia, the newer Shingrix findings, and the unanswered questions for APOE4 carriers.

Why might a rash shot touch your brain? Two competing theories are suppressing a hidden virus and trained immunity. No study in this episode tested the effect specifically in APOE4 carriers, the stronger-in-women pattern did not replicate everywhere, and protection fades over time.
